Very central hotel. Executive room was very roomy and the bed comfy. Breakfast was good too. Would definitely go back next time I’m in Leeds.

Great Location, Friendly Staff - But In Need of a Refresh!

We stayed at the Leeds Park Plaza for one night in early March 2025, in Room 1011 (10th floor), while visiting for a concert.
If your priority is convenience, this hotel is an excellent choice. Just a few minutes walk from the train station and two large Q-Parks (nice 20% discount on these for guests) However, if you’re looking for a luxurious or romantic stay, this might not be the best option.
The hotel is well-run, and staff were consistently friendly and helpful, but the overall experience felt more like a 3* rather than a 4* stay. It’s clear that any recent investment has gone into the reception and main restaurant on the ground floor, both of which have a sleek, modern feel. Unfortunately, as soon as you step into the lifts and head towards the rooms, that fresh first impression quickly fades. Bit of an anti-climax really as the guest areas and our room were noticeably outdated, shabby and in need of refurbishment.
PROS:
• Late check-out at 12 PM which is ideal for those who like a lie-in (like myself!!)
• Delicious breakfast, available from 7:30-11:30 on Sundays. We arrived just after 10AM and everything was still well-stocked and fresh. There was a lovely waitress walking around with tea and coffee top ups. Wish I got her name as she was so friendly and smiley! (This was Sunday 9th March if management read this)
• Fantastic location, just a few minutes’ walk from Leeds Train Station and central parking.
• Large room windows let in lots of natural light. They also open slightly for fresh air but block out all external noise when closed.
• Very spacious room with large wardrobe and a full length mirror.
• Powerful shower with ESPA toiletries, which were a nice touch.
Cons:
• Dated and tired décor - our room felt stuck in the late ’90s, with worn-out furniture in need of updating.
• Bed setup was really disappointing - We booked a room with an extra-large double, only to find two single mattresses pushed together. The wooden bed frame was creaky, with large, grey plastic wheels at the headboard that we both said gave it a weird hospital-bed feel! Again, not very "4 star".
• Glazed glass bathroom door - not much privacy, plus a big gap at the bottom, which didn’t help with soundproofing.
• Harsh overhead bed lighting - no bedside lamps, just two large bright ceiling spotlights shining directly down onto your face.
• Breakfast restaurant felt more like a 90's office canteen. Tables were visibly worn, and ours had chunks of blu-tack holding the side together (complete with hair and crumbs stuck to it) The upholstered bench style seating I was sat at was full of rips in the fabric.
Final Thoughts
While the Park Plaza is an affordable option compared to other 4-star hotels within Leeds City Centre, the lower price reflects the outdated condition of the rooms and guest areas. If location and budget are your top priorities, it’s a convenient choice, but for a true 4-star feel, there are much better alternatives in the city.

Close to Train Station

We had a short stay in Leeds and had to travel by trains so hotel near train station is our choice.
We reached hotel by taking A1 bus from Leeds Bradford airport. Hotel is next to the bus stop which is 1-3 stops away from the last airport bus stop.
Hotel location is good. Few meters away is Tesco express, restaurants and shopping centres. Train station is just across the hotel but we need to detour a bit as there was work in progress along the road.
Check in was fast and staffs were friendly. We booked an executive room and our room is big. I agree with other traveller comments that room is not bright enough and bed is too soft for us. Most of time we didn’t stay in the room so it didn’t affect us.

Was disappointed they weren’t able to assist with the (astronomic) local parking which cost £33 for 18 hours, unless pre booked. Auto checkout didn’t work and the lifts here are horrific, waiting 5 minutes each journey.

Mixed stay … some good bits, but some not.

Some positives … a great location and a nice, clean spacious room with panoramic views of the city. And a nice buffet breakfast.
But … how can a hotel claim to be 4 star when the restaurant isn’t open Friday or Saturday evenings ? A bar meal is just not the same. And the awful, loud, piped music in all the public areas. Why? Just why?
