Comfortable Stay with Some Drawbacks

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience! I’d like to address some of the points you mentioned, as they provide a great opportunity to describe our hostel to potential guests. Unfortunately, booking platform descriptions are automated and somewhat limited, so your feedback helps us provide a clearer picture.
Our hostel is located in the so-called "Quiet Center," also known as the Jugendstil or Art Nouveau district. This is where many locals live and spend their time, surrounded by incredible restaurants, cafes, and the architectural beauty for which Riga is famous. In fact, this area boasts the highest concentration of Art Nouveau buildings in the world—a true gem for architecture lovers.
Regarding our location on the base floor, we include this detail in our hostel description and in the welcome email sent to guests immediately after booking. Unfortunately, due to some platform messaging settings, not all guests receive this information, and I’m very sorry if this came as an unexpected surprise.
Our hostel offers just nine rooms. Of these, three are smaller economy rooms with 140x200 cm beds, while the other six standard rooms are bigger and feature larger 160x200 cm beds. Each room is equipped with private bathroom and essential furnishings. Our goal is to provide hotel-level comfort at hostel-level prices, which also means compromising on certain aspects, for example being on the base floor, having slightly older TVs with cable connection, or our economy rooms being compact.
Thank you again for sharing your experience—it will undoubtedly help others when evaluating their options in Riga. I’m truly sorry your stay felt like 3 stars instead of 5. We’d love to welcome you back in the future and provide a stay that exceeds your expectations.
