Delightful and characterful hotel
We loved this hotel and were disappointed we could only stay for one night. Beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. Excellent nights sleep in a huge and very comfortable bed ( superior double). The bathroom was small but beautifully done with soap, toothbrushes etc. if needed and plenty of soft towels. The only downside was the shower over the bath which I always feel a bit uneasy using. A grab handle on the wall would help. Very friendly and helpful proprietor. We had read in another review that the breakfast was expensive for what it was but we thought it was worth it both for the presentation and the beautiful surroundings. Linen table cloths/ napkins, delicious orange juice and coffee, great choice of jams etc. for the croissants and crepes. Yes, it was expensive but we didn’t regret it.
Booking in was from 6 pm onwards and we arrived slightly earlier. The electric gates were only accessible on foot at that time so had to park outside, walk in and register and then were given our key and gate clicker.
We are looking forward to staying at this delightful hotel again next year

Bad experience for us. Unfortunately, we were invited and were unable to express our disappointment.
For 18 years, I have regularly stayed in a 3* hotel in Paris 12° for the same price (€135), breakfast included, whereas at the Inattendu, it is not. This is the first time I've stayed in a hotel room where there is no wardrobe, not even a single hanger to hang up your clothes, and no mirror where you can see your whole self. Furthermore, the only power outlet in the bathroom is 2 meters from the floor; my wife, who is not very tall, would not have been able to use her hairdryer without my help in connecting it.
Apart from these inconveniences, the bedding is comfortable and the establishment is quiet. The staff is also friendly and courteous.
Furthermore, we had a family lunch with 12 people as guests on Monday December 25, Christmas Day, festive menu planned for that day and unfortunately, the main course (capon and mushroom side dish) did not suit us. makes you want to eat capon more in the future, although we are residents in Ain, the latter being very poorly prepared, dry and hard. Only the sauce pleased us, but it's not enough at this price. As for the mushrooms, they were dry and hard. And finally, the dessert cart turned into 2 slices of ordinary dessert. The Chably wine (not premier cru) and the red Mercurey were of the same level as the rest, that is to say far below what one could hope for at this price.
It was therefore very disappointed that we left this establishment, not mentioning it to our family who hosted us and who are residents of Chauny (a very well-known family), but rest assured that we will not return there again. However, we will not fail to rehabilitate the capon in our beautiful region of Bresse where we live.

Tout d’abord, vous nous voyez sincèrement désolés de n’avoir su répondre à vos attentes . Il eut été tellement plus courtois de votre part, de nous faire part , sur le champ,de vos désagréments! Sachez que nous n’aurions pas manqué de répondre favorablement à vos diverses sollicitations!
Nous ne pouvons, cependant, nous empêcher de penser qu’il s’agit bien là, d’un véritable procès d’intention à notre égard, tant nous sommes davantage habitués à recevoir des « strokes» positifs de la part de notre clientèle!
Pour votre gouverne personnelle, sachez que le repas de Noël ne comportait pas de champignons! Vos papilles vous auraient- elles trahi à ce point… de confondre champignons et marrons?
Que nenni pour le chariot de desserts qui était en fait un chariot de bûches!
Bref, pour en terminer, nous remarquons que, bien que fréquentant assidûment les établissements 3 étoiles parisiens, vous n’avez émis qu’un seul avis négatif: le nôtre!De surcroît, chacun sait que ces hôtels 3 étoiles sont banals et qu’il n’y a pas forcément lieu de se targuer de les fréquenter!
Nous vous souhaitons un bon retour dans cette superbe région de la Bresse, non sans trouver un peu ridicule ,le fait que vous vous vantiez à ce point de « réhabiliter » ce « pôvre chapon »…. un peu d’humilité serait sans doute bienvenue mais il est vrai que vous faites partie d’une famille très connue de Chauny!

An UNEXPECTED hotel!!!
What about the Unexpected? Should I tell the truth about such a place? Yes, it is important to say that this place is truly a gem in the heart of Chauny. I would like to find negative points but I can't find any since everything is harmonious and well arranged. The room is really large and beautifully decorated, no lack of taste in the style of the room, Scapa, golf is in the spotlight in this room. Tour is designed for the comfort of its guests, toothbrush and toothpaste if you forget yours for anecdote. I don't dare say more otherwise it risks being attacked. Well, too bad, the place is EXCEPTIONAL!!!
I am full of praise for this place but it is worth it and I forget everything that struck me about this hotel. It deserves to be ranked . , well for me it is. Let's not forget breakfast, I loved that the pastries were still warm...but I'm going to stop there and let everyone form their own opinion. You have to discover it yourself and not be told about it. Everyone will not be disappointed and I will do it again with envy.

Nice Decor, Clean, Comfortable
Very nice place to stay. Very clean, and the owners are extremely friendly. The decor is unique in each room and is well done. You can find the different room themes on their website. If you’re staying in the Chauny area, this is the place to stay !

Fantastique découverte lors d’un week-end en famille. Magnifique hôtellerie de haut niveau.
Chambres spacieuses, équipement luxueux. Calme. Très beau jardin. La literie est très confortable. Les salles de bain et les kits d’accueil très complets. Le mobilier et la décoration de qualité. Le lieu est charmant et extrêmement agréable. Prestations de haut niveau par rapport au prix. À garder dans son fichier d’adresses accompagné de 5 étoiles
