Great destination for families with children at the end of September if you want to avoid all inclusive and stay in a natural area

Disappointing
However, we would only score the Elivi overall at 3. Due to a couple of issues:
1) Most importantly, the Sun Loungers.
When we were having a day staying around the hotel, as we had a swim up pool and terrace, we would primarily base ourselves around the room, terrace and pool. Then as the sun left our terrace around 2pm, we would transfer to one of the beaches.
This causes the first issue. The hotel have rented out so many of the loungers to non-residents, that it was a problem finding a front row sun lounger. To be fair, front rows are reserved for guests until 11, but that didn't help us. Now normally that would be no real issue as we'd be content with a lounger further back. Here comes the major issue. They have crammed sooo many sun loungers onto the beaches, that sitting in one of the rear rows is really quite unpleasant. They are quite simply far too close together. Your neighbours are as close as they could be with almost no room to move in between and obscuring most of the view forward. And no ability to move your lounger for sun or shade as is normally required.
The result of this is we could only really use Koukounaries or Ambelakia beach, as Banana (our preferred beach) was particularly unpleasant due to the number of rows of loungers. And even still, these beaches suffered the same issue of being far too close to neighbouring guests, whose conversations we really don't want to have to listen to.
By the way Little Banana beach is naturist !
The beaches I'd rate as a 5, the Seating a 0.
2) The shower in our room started to run cold and did so for the whole of the second week, that's just not acceptable for a 5 star hotel ..
3) The Funicular broke down on about day 5 and was never fixed. This is simply embarrassing for a supposed 5 Star resort.
In normal circumstances, we would plan to return to the Elivi in the next year or so, but unless the sun lounger situation is improved, that is now VERY unlikely.

A truly excellent stay . We actually stayed in the Nest area twice this summer. June and September.
The room was immaculately clean, beautiful linens which were changed daily. Lovely bathroom. The views from the terrace were incredible. This room( 1719) is high in the Nest area so beautiful sunsets. The downside of this room is that the cleaning staff are based beneath it and the laundry gets delivered here early in the morning. But everyone is so friendly and waves and smiles so I never minded.
Breakfast was good , a great variety of choices. Very good coffee. We loved the Beach ( Big banana) but found the music in June way too loud ... in September it was more mellow and chilled. Great lunch here. We also loved Blackbird beach ( stunning beach) but thought the bar/ cafe could be improved. ( too much plastic)
The Greek fish restaurant overlooking the beach is fabulous , great food here and a lovely vibe.
The main bar was a good place for after dinner coffee and drinks. Very hard working and friendly staff.
We really loved our stay here, both in June and September. It is a stunning hotel and I hope we will be able to experience it again.
