Fantastic

Had dinner with family there last Saturday because of my birthday in Restaurant Toos It was excellent again The dishes were fine, the service excellent Never had to wait long while it was still very busy For everyone recommended to come and eat in this exquisite restaurant Recommend you make a reservation

Hotel Guests Not Number 1 Priority

The positives about the Hoorn Van Der Valk is that the rooms are clean, warm, comfortable. There is a large shower and bathroom. Kettle and glasses and cups.
Unfortunately there were a lot of negatives such as a very rude 'welcoming' by the reception staff upon arrival. The staff told us that the restaurant was fully booked and there was no room service available. It was a Saturday night and we had just travelled from Australia and there was literally nothing else around close to the hotel. They did not provide any other options for us.
The lobby was very noisy and overcrowded with a lot of focus on the bar and the casino seemingly taking priority over staying guests.
There is no under cover parking so you have to park in the large carpark and bring your luggage across in the rain and the dark, there was no offer to help or suggest that we could park closer to unpack our luggage.
It was a very disappointing stay indeed as we have stayed in Van Der Valk's previously and were expecting the same welcome and attention to service. Overall, a disappointing stay.

Bad experience

A drink in the bar to the left of the entrance is almost impossible. Been at the bar 3 times asking if I could order something to drink. Was sent away twice with the message “sit back, my colleague will take the order” after 35 minutes so for the third time at the bar asking if we could please order something to drink.
Staff just walk back and forth and don't look around.

Fire alarm and no spoons at the soup

In itself a fine hotel and restaurant, but very moderate to almost poor service.
Have eaten 2 evenings in the restaurant with 10 colleagues, however, every time spoons forgotten with the soup and then there was no response to our beckons so we eventually took the spoons ourselves.
2nd night the fire alarm goes off, can happen, but also here, little communication and only 'sorry, was a false alarm' after we had been downstairs for half an hour.

Bad experience!!

Hello, We spent 2 days in the cold in our room. And got 2 small electric air heating heaters.
After a complaint we only got the money from a breakfast back!!
Why service???
I don't expect this at a van der Valk hotel!!
