Very nice location with lots to see and explore. The breakfast was lovely!
Accidentally stumbled upon this pearl in Stadskanaal.
A first impression of the photos was reasonable, but somewhat dated, but the opposite is a different experience!
Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by the master of the house who welcomed us very kindly. After entering you imagine yourself in a different time zone, with so many beautiful and original things to see and discover.
Through the long corridor you reach the stairs and into a large, high space with an abundance of history, seating areas, books and other reading material. Subsequently, in a small corridor are the 3 rooms, each with its own appearance. Room 2 was reserved for us. After putting away the suitcases, you will come across several doors in the hall, behind which there is a door with a toilet and another door with the hot tub and a room with a toilet, shower and two sinks. This space looks and feels Roman and exudes a touch of wellness through its layout and use of color.
The hall also contains the refrigerator, microwave and kitchen utensils and crockery. Furthermore, a list regarding the minibar, on which you can write down the products you have enjoyed.
Back in the high, central room where breakfast is served, the glass tiles in the floor are also striking, which provide a view of the corridor below. There are also plenty of things for children to enjoy, including a cozy play corner with nice chairs and a sofa. There is much more to discover and admire in the corridors on the ground floor.
Outside you can use the garden, with sunbeds and seating. This location is definitely worth saving and you wouldn't expect it to be in the middle of this small, vast village in Stadskanaal. And certainly a big thumbs up to the owner because they completely renovated the old farm 7 years ago into the accommodation company that it currently is!

A disgrace
Booked 2 to 3 weeks ago, due to a family weekend in Stadskanaal (to commemorate a recently deceased loved one and return them to her roots). When booking we asked if confirmation was required. This was not necessary, the owner told me. On the day of arrival I contacted her by telephone to request the check-in time. The response was that you can check in between 4-8pm. We arrived at the B&B at 515/530hrs and then, to our great surprise, it turned out that the B&B was fully booked!!!!
Forced to book a hotel 45 minutes away from the city canal.

Comfortable Room, Homey, Excellent Breakfast.
On the telephone, the owner-lady told me to please reserve via booking dot com, hence I did that.
Finding the place, a converted farmhouse, was easy. Parking is normally on the road in front,
but a motorcycle can be parked on-site, together with the bicycles, next to the house.
Check-in was smooth (say hi to the friendly dog), and the room was lovely, very homey.
My room also came with a kitchenette, and there is a microwave.
In my case, the Bathroom was shared between several rooms, but is Spacious, Modern and Clean.
The whole place is very spacious, and there is a nice large recreation area (ideal for kids!).
Internet connectivity was a bit sketchy, but that was not the fault of the local wifi. 4G coverage seemed ok though.
But if you are not stressed for work: get off the internet, and check the abundance of Books: The walls are covered with books of all kinds in various languages. You could spend days here browsing and reading Real Books.
Sleep was Excellent.
Breakfast here is Outstanding, way above what I am used to in comparable B&Bs. Compliments!
They seem to have a mix of tourists and business-guests, and are ok with either: if you want a Really Early Breakfast, that is also no problem, ask for the “early bird breakfast”.
You can see that the owners put a lot of effort into making this place a “home away from home”.
Will probably return.

Grandioos ontbijt met heel veel van alles wat bij een ontbijt hoort. De gastheer en gastvrouw doen er alles aan om het verblijf onvergetelijk te maken. Een absolute aanrader tegen een schappelijk prijs.
