We were really impressed and will certainly keep this property in mind should we need to stay in the area again.
Plus Points
Having a key safe outside the room made booking in and out so easy.
The room had a well stocked mini fridge, a microwave, a toaster a selection of cereals, preserves etc available for a DIY breakfast as well as a TV.
All the staff we had dealings with were friendly and helpful.
The meals were far larger than expected and well cooked, we actually called back on the way home for a meal because we were so impressed with the dinner we had while staying.
Minus Points all of which are more of suggestions rather than complaints.
No shaver socket in the bath room, a two pin plug adaptor would solve that problem although they may get pinched by some guests, similarly a USB adaptor.
One other observation although I appreciate it may be due to the ongoing building work was a metal box section going across the path in the passageway, I felt it was a trip hazard which could be hazardous especially for elderly guests.
Other than that All in all a great place to stay

DO NOT BOOK... Scruffy, unhygienic and host is NOT user friendly!

DO NOT BOOK THIS ACCOMADATION... it is truly awful !!!!
We booked it via Airbnb and I am amazed that it is even listed?!
Probably, if not the worst we have ever stayed in! Room smelt damp, black mould on the shower tiles and base, dead insects in light fittings and the worst beds that are old and sagging. The pub itself is not actually open to the public so do not expect to get a pint and some food next to a log fire.... you get a scabby continental breakfast left in a questionable fridge, and 2 slices of bread wrapped in clingfilm. Oh and there is a warning sign to say that the toaster may set the fire alarms off! Rooms are behind the pub down a very dark walkway and there are empty beer kegs everywhere and dead plants in pots. Could be such a nice place... but it is not! We received no messages from the host until the day we were due to arrive, and it warned us that "We are going through a period of minor refurbishment to our outside areas so The Willow House looks a bit scruffy around the edges atm"... Strangely enough, this was the case 2 years ago in other reviews?!
DO NOT waste your money booking this place and the owner should be totally ashamed of himself...

Reasonable good fish and chips, great service

Very friendly and helpful staff. Service was fast and efficient. Cosy ambience. My wife and I both had the battered fish and chips with mushy peas which was quite well done. The prices of food and drinks were mid-range. There is ample free parking and free wifi.

Comfy bed but everything else disappointing

Stayed 2 nights for a wedding and it's okay but as other reviewers have said, outdated and a little grotty.
The pub itself is beautiful but that's not where you stay - there's some rooms around the side.
The bathroom had mould and the vent didn't work, it has a big sign saying not to leave the door open so after showering for a few minutes you're in a fog. Miniscule bottles of shampoo and shower gel.
The closet (where we had to store our suit and bridesmaids dress) had mould and damp, absolutely gross.
The windows are single glazed, the door can't be locked from the inside apart from on a chain - it blew open from the wind in the night.
You're right by the pub's kitchen so the smells are incredibly strong, plus in the morning there was almighty noise from beer kegs getting changed and ferried about.
After all that though, the bed is very comfy.

Absolutely Disgusting Establishment

Booked in for 1 night and my god, what a mistake that was. Upon arrival were met by loud music and a crowd of drunks in the outside drinking area. Walked around the outside to the rear of the building to find some chalets that seem to be relics of a 60’s Butlins holiday camp, we thought it couldn’t get any worse, that was until we opened the door to our ‘room’. The first thing we noticed were the filthy, stained, upholstery and carpets, the damp and leaking roof that had been painted over to disguise the fact, that was on top of the chipped and damaged paintwork and walls. And then, the bathroom, black mould on the floor and around the shower, broken shower and filthy and rusty waste bin, we had seen enough, at least we thought we had until venturing outside we witnessed a rat disappearing through a hole in the bottom of the tatty rotten back door. Contacted the owner, by whatsapp, to ensure we had any reply in writing, asking to be moved to a cleaner room or we wished to have a refund and leave, they never replied but sent an employee around who said ‘we haven’t got any other rooms and you’re not getting your money back’ and walked off. I messaged them to inform them that I would be passing all my documentation to my bank for a chargeback refund, we then immediately left. I have since discovered that the owner always states that ‘we are going through a period of minor but slow refurbishment’, however it appears that this ‘slow refurbishment’ has allegedly been going on for years. And the icing on the cake, they only have a hygiene rating of 3. Need I say more, you have been warned!!!!!!!
